07.30.09 Sixth Tour Planned<<<<<

>>>>>
07.21.09 Chaos Narcotic Tracklist, Final Discontinuation<<<<<
Recording is wrapping up on Jak's new rock album "Chaos Narcotic". Here's the (more or less) finalized tracklist:
1: Color Coordinated; 2: Flavor Of The Week; 3: Wrecking Ball; 4: The Nothing At All; 5: Hannah; 6: Night Never Falls, It Crashes; 7: Rockin Broken Record; 8: Cyanide; 9: Good Luck; 10: Repeater; 11: Dreamless; 12: Beautiful Day To Be Dead; 13: Equus Ultima

"Battery Acid" will no longer be available for sale following "Chaos Narcotic"'s release. The explanation from Jak's recording log: "The reason I discontinue the earlier albums is because the recording quality is humiliatingly subpar on just about anything pre-2008. While I understand that the day may come when the most recent three albums are far outclassed by new techniques/equipment I acquire, the difference is that unlike pre-2008 material there's still enough clarity to be submission-worthy for radio, etc. Basically, I don't feel right promoting obviously inferior material, which is why you've seen me discontinue so many albums over the past two or so years."

>>>>>

Jak plays The Continental in Slidell, LA for the first time on July 3rd. Definitely worth a trip out to this place. August 1st, Jak and Sick Like Sinatra join forces at Banks Street Bar once again like some kind of sexy Voltron or something. Also, the upcoming album "Chaos Narcotic" is tentatively scheduled for a late summer/early autumn release and will likely be 12 tracks. More details like tracklist and all that when they come about.

>>>>>03.31.09 One Shot Austin 4/15, Final Metal Show 4/17<<<<<
Direct from Jak: "Because of, well, life, the April 17th show at The Bar with Apathy Ensues, Cathercist and Mad Dog will be my last metal show for a while. The lineup is not breaking up, nobody hates anybody, and it's not a permanent thing--mainly until a number of things settle down, children are born, and everyone's schedules open up again. When we get back to it, there'll be a lot of new material to listen to while you watch us abuse and destroy ourselves onstage. In the meantime, I'll still be doing acoustic and rock sets, as well as more stuff with Banjo and a side project I'm not supposed to mention yet."

Jak's also just added an acoustic show in Austin at Thunderbird for April 15th. This is separate from the three day mini-tour from April 9th through 11th, so if you're in the area, make sure you come out and support the gas tank.

>>>>>03.14.09 Thrift Store Reject Music Video #1 of 2<<<<<
Andrew Elliott (who you'll remember from the music video he did for "Good Luck") recently gave Jak the raw footage from the "Thrift Store Reject" shoot they filmed two years ago and challenged Jak to an editing race. Jak's is finished and can now be seen via the View page; though he does want it mentioned that this shouldn't be considered the official video for that song, as Andy's will likely be far superior. Both will remain available when the other one is finished but you can enjoy watching Jak's version right now.

Jak's show last night at the Neutral Ground was certainly different--the surprise he had been talking about came in the form of a full five-piece band backing him up through a ten song set. Ripping through a set heavy with funk and blues tunes, as well as some new interpretations of some of Jak's regular acoustic standbys, Jak and the band put on a show that definitely set the standard for what to expect this year.

One half of the show will be a Bob Dylan tribute and the other half will be Jak's debuting of his newest songs. It all starts at 9:30pm on December 22! It's your last opportunity to catch Jak performing at a Nicholls tailgate party for the rest of time.

>>>>>11.13.01 November 17 Tailgate Party<<<<<
The November 10 appearance that was scheduled turned out to be cancelled since the PA system was nowhere to be found and the people in charge of the event showed up too late to have the performance, so the tailgate party for the Grambling game went without musical entertainment. Jak will be performing live with his band at the tailgate party preceding the Nicholls/McNeese football game on November 17 beginning at around 1:00pm and lasting until 2:30pm when the band The Eyes will set up for their performance at 3:00pm. Expect to see some new additions to the music as there will be a possible addition of a saxophonist and another guitarist to Jak's backing band for this show, as well as the introduction of no less than five brand new songs for this show.

>>>>>10.22.01 Recent Recording<<<<<
Jak recently completed a new single, "I Don't Care About This EP", recorded at his own Total Sonic Chaos Studio. With six songs, all variations on his impromptu song "I Don't Care About This Song," the album is a varied and interesting EP, to say the least. No plans for release have been revealed as of yet.

>>>>>10.16.01 Impromptu Appearance, Two New Shows, "Dark Of The Moon"<<<<<
Jak performed live at The Neutral Ground last night in a surprise visit to Open Mic Nite backed by Leo, a musician from the crowd, on conga drums throughout the brief four-song set. More importantly, Jak makes an official return to The Neutral Ground this weekend after nearly two months of absence! Jak is scheduled to play a fifty minute acoustic set at The Neutral Ground on Saturday, October 20 beginning at 7:00pm so be there! Also, Jak's spot at the Grambling/Nicholls game tailgate party is back on so be sure to catch him and his band there at Nicholls State University by the stadium on November 10! Finally, Jak is back in his studio again, recording the first cuts of the score for the Nicholls Players production of "Dark Of The Moon". You can hear his music at the play which runs November 1-4, as well as catch his live appearances in the play as a deaf/mute guitarist.

>>>>>10.15.01 Cancellations, Possible New Show<<<<<

However, there is a possibility of Jak playing a show before the McNeese/Nicholls game on November 17. You can still see Jak act in the Nicholls Players production of "Dark Of The Moon", as well as hear his music throughout the play (as mentioned previously, the ambient musical score is being composed, performed and recorded by Jak.)

Jak also spoke live briefly on KNSU 91.5 FM tonight with D.J. Axle.

>>>>>10.03.01 Jak To Score "Dark Of The Moon" <<<<<
Jak has been asked to compose, perform and record the entire ambient score for the "Dark Of The Moon" production at Nicholls State University. Stanley Coleman, film professor at Nicholls, and director of the play, has asked for "weird and strange music" which is right up Jak's alley. Be sure not to miss the play, if not for the exhibition of Jak's talent both on and offstage, then for the play which promises to be a very entertaining and well-done production. As of now, it will be running November 1-4, 2001 at the Nicholls State University auditorium in Talbot Hall. Jak also plans to possibly release the album of incidental music for the play shortly after its completion.

>>>>>10.01.01 Hippie Day Show Recap<<<<<

Rob Harrison (former drummer of Jak's previous band "Paradox Prophecy") played the drums on three songs during Jak's acoustic set in a mini-reprisal of Paradox Prophecy. Ben and Chad as well as Dorian Dardar have agreed to be Jak's backup band for future shows, so keep posted on details and if you missed this show, don't miss any of the others that are upcoming!
